The Hills Lacrosse Board wanted to welcome everyone for the Spring 2015 Season.
A couple of things:
#1. There will be a uniform sizing meeting on Feb 10th or Feb 11th from 7pm to 9pm in the North Cafeteria of Watchung Hills High School for all boys players grades 2nd to 6th as they will have new uniforms this season. Please do your best to attend.
#2. Rich Burton is sending an email to all the girls to began the uniform process for our girls' teams. The girls will be using the same uniforms as last season. There will be an online ordering process for the girls' teams. Please respond to Rich if you will need a uniform or if he is missing your uniform number when he reaches out to help facilitate the process
#3. Coach Lovejoy will be sending out an email on the apparel package and uniforms for the 7/8th grade boys later this week. That too will be an online ordering system.
#4. We will have Hills Lacrosse merchandise on display at the uniform fitting nights and we will be reopening the merchandise website for those interested in ordering. Please feel free to stop by to see the items and to get sized up.
#5. A reminder on the equipment requirements for boys lacrosse. Boys are required to have a stick, a certified helmet (Please be aware that Cascade R and Warrior Regulator helmets are no longer certified and can not be used), shoulder pads, elbow pads/arm pads, gloves, a cup, a mouthpiece, and cleats.
#6. A reminder on the equipment requirements for the girls. Girls are required to have a girls lacrosse stick, goggles and a mouthpiece.
#7. To help with the equipment needs we have arranged for a 2nd 15% off period at all Modell's in NJ from 2/6th to 3/15th. Given my inability to send the coupon via email last time I have hard copy coupons for anyone that wants them that can be picked up at the uniform fitting next week. If you cant make it there, let me know and I will figure out how to get it to you. We are also working with Universal Lacrosse to put together discounted equipment packages so stay tuned for details.
#8. Please remember that everyone is required to submit completed medical forms at the start of practices. Medical forms can be found on our website under the documents tab. 2 copies are needed for every player. Go to thehillslacrosse.org to get the forms.
#9. We are still looking for coaching volunteers, particularly at the younger levels for the boys. If you have any interest in coaching please contact Pete Brady at
cell 973-879-5238 or Rich Burton at

We want to make sure all of our members are aware that 2 specific lacrosse helmets are no longer certified as safety compliant and will not be allowed to be used by children in our program:
US Lacrosse, the national governing body for men’s and women’s lacrosse, has been notified by NOCSAE (National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment) that two lacrosse helmet models currently available in the marketplace -- the Cascade Model R and the Warrior Regulator -- do not meet the NOCSAE helmet standard, ND041.
NOCSAE’s public statement, available in its entirety at www.nocsae.org, says that the organization made its determination following an independent investigation and evaluation of the two helmets, including a review of each manufacturer’s internal testing and quality control data. As a result, NOCSAE has voided the manufacturer’s certification of compliance, for all manufacturing dates, for the two helmet models.
Rules written by US Lacrosse, the NCAA and the NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations) mandate that all helmets must meet NOCSAE standards and be NOCSAE certified. Both models had previously been certified by the manufacturers as being compliant with the NOCSAE standard.
NOCSAE’s statement adds that both Cascade and Warrior have been notified of these conclusions by NOCSAE, and have indicated that they are working to address the issue.
Consumers seeking further information about these two helmet models are advised to contact the manufacturers directly: Cascade (1-800-537-1702); Warrior (1-800-968-7845).
Hills Lacrosse would like to congratulate Hills Lacrosse Alumni Ryan Cunningham on being named High School All American and Hills Lacrosse Alumni Lindsey Carroll and Kelsey Reed for their participation in the High School Girls Lacrosse National Tournament.
